WREAKE ATHLETICS ACADEMY LAUNCHES MARCH 11th

At long last the WREAKE  ATHLETICS ACADEMY launches on March 11th at Syston Rugby club with Sarah Coleman leading the sessions. Members of the academy will learn the skills and principles of athletics needed to take them to the very top! The academy has adopted the UKA Athletics 365 system which awards bands as progression takes place, similar to what happens within the martial arts. The challenge is to become Leicestershires first ever ATHLETICS BLACKBELT!  Anyone joining before March 18th will recieve a FREE WREAKE ATHLETICS ACADEMY hoody! THE QUENIBOROUGH FUN RUN 2010

The recent stomp event minus the punishing senior version perhaps proved to be even more successful than last year’s.  There was certainly better weather than the previous drizzle and the brook’s waters even seemed to be warm, pleasant and placid!  However, the hill after the first stream crossing was still unforgiving – especially for those running two laps!  All the hard work through mud and water obstacles paid off in the form of goody bags, and awards presented at Queniborough primary school.  Everyone who completed the series earned a certificate and the winners received trophies. Photos, and results are included below.

News this month also includes the  Wednesday weekday club which has started up for older junior members and selected others to offer extra training.  Also, junior teams are participating in the Livingston Relays on Sunday 3rd May.

Congratulations to junior Emily Hollis who did extremely well to win the British Heart Foundation 4k race on 19th April at Donisthorpe, winning a trophy in the shape of the number 1!  The recovery of David Freeman after a foot injury is noted and we’re glad to have him back tearing around the track once again!
