Dovedale Dash 2016

What better way to spend a Sunday morning than running 4.75miles through the beautiful hills of Thorpe and Dovedale in the picturesque Peak District? (in the freezing cold)  Well that’s what ten of us crazy Wreakies decided to do on Sunday 6th November…”the 60th Dovedale Dash”

The race started at 11am with a mad rush of 1600 runners scrambling downhill to the famous stepping stones that cross the river Dove.  If you are brave enough then you run through the icy cold water or you can take the wimps way out and stay dry by hopping over the stones!  The route then takes you through a mixture of muddy fields and alongside the river Dove, where you have to dodge the rocks and try not to fall in.

The finish straight is a nice ‘easy’ slow uphill climb where you struggle to find that last bit of energy to grab hold of a finishers certificate whilst dreaming of getting warm with a hot drink and a carvery at the local Oakover Arms!

Will we be doing it all over again next year?…Definitely!
